Finalisation on Self Portrait and Intro to InDesign

Wednesday, 18 December 2013

I've made 5 sketches of my self portrait:

Then sir Em decided the 3rd one (as the best one). But I've to modified it. I've to rotate it into portrait (since it's self portrait). And I've to make the hierarchy looks good. The pink flowers's colour (the background) is too strong. then ta-da! the final result:

Then we have some intro to InDesign:
1. The difference between facing pages and non-facing pages
non-facing paper
take a look to the pages box to see the different
facing paper
take a look to the pages box.
 2. To edit the document pages

 3. To create the guides (grid)

go to Layout > Create Guides
 4. To create the text

5. To create the grids
I think, it's better to use guides than grids because for me it's to confusing and too much.

6. To test some text
without the guides

7. To place the image

Mini Exercise of Self Portrait

Wednesday, 11 December 2012

I've made my moodboard of me :-D

Today we have a mini exercise about our self portrait. First of all sir Em gave us some example of Image Manipulation Techniques. There're collage, photomontage, and juxtaposition.

Collage is a creative technique that allows the inclusion of many different objects to form a design.

Photomontage is a technique that allows whereby two or more images are combine to create a composite. This might be used to group together different image elements that might not naturally and simultaneously exist.

Juxtaposition is the placement of contrasting images side by side. With regards to image placement,
juxtaposition may be used to present two or more visual ideas so as to impart a relationship between them.

And tada, here's mine:

Studio Photography: Practice

Monday, 9 December 2013

As the theory I've learned, then it's time to make it real and have some practice.

1. Portrait Photography
a. Specular Light
I chose traditional javanese as the theme. So, I complete the property with Kue Tampah (traditional cake). I also asked Berta to use white kebaya (because it represents calm and traditional). I edited the photo with adding sepia filter. Berta's pose is also calm and ayu (javanese language means beautiful). Specular light also gives a dramatic feeling.

I tried to use honey comb, so it looks more focus and dramatic:

b. Diffuse Light
I chose floral garden tea time theme. I applied a depth of field effect so it feels like peeking from the garden. I prepared macaroon and teapot for the property.

2. Object Photography
I chose food as the theme.
a. Specular Light
macaroon:

b. Diffuse Light
Kue Tampah, traditional cake from Indonesia.

thank you :-)

behind the scene :-p :-p
